Founded in 2007, Edgefield Lumber Company is headquartered in Loxley, Alabama, and offers smart solutions for homebuilders in the Gulf South region, including Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee and the Florida panhandle. With a capacity to treat upwards of 50 million board feet of lumber per year, Edgefield is poised for growth.


Leadership

The company’s management includes Mason McGowin III, president, and Greg Wells, vice president of sales. Randell Robinson, former General Manager of Rocky Creek Lumber Company, serves the company as the production manager.

Mason McGowin III, President
E. Mason McGowin III graduated from The University of Alabama in 1995. Following graduation, Mason worked in forestry, an industry the McGowins have been involved with for over 100 years. In 1998 he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked with several start-up companies. In 2006, Mason and Greg Wells formed Edgefield Lumber Company to manufacture and distribute BluWood. He resides with his wife and 5-year-old son in Atlanta.

Greg Wells, Vice President of Sales
Greg Wells received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from The University of Alabama in 1997. He has 11 years’ experience in sales and lumber distribution. From 1998 to 2005, Greg worked for CH Robinson Company, where he managed sales and distribution for Armstrong, Bruce & Hartco Hardwood Floors. He then moved to Liberty Building Products as sales manager, where he managed contractor sales for engineered wood components and trusses. In 2006, Greg and Mason McGowin formed Edgefield Lumber Company.

Randell Robinson, Vice President of Operations
Randell has over 30 years’ experience in the lumber and lumber manufacturing business. In 1977, he began his career as a supervisor at International Paper Company in Maplesville, Alabama. Through his tenure, he also held the positions of Manager of Quality Control and Operations Manager. In 1994, he moved to Union Camp Corporation/International Paper Company in Chapman, Alabama, as the Lumber Plant Manager and later as the Resident Manager. Randell then became General Manager of Rocky Creek Lumber Company in Mexia, Alabama, for seven years. He joined the Edgefield Lumber staff in 2007.

Wayne Brooks, Head of Lumber Procurement
Wayne Brooks has been in the lumber and plywood industry for 38 years. He started in the industry as a Salesman for Georgia Pacific Corporation. He was next employed by Union Camp Corporation where he was both Plywood Sales Manager and Lumber Sales Manager. He then was employed by Rocky Creek Lumber Company where he served as Lumber Sales Manager.

Chuck Miceli, Technical Representative
Chuck is currently the President and Owner of Grading Consulting Group, Inc., a Lumber Grading Consulting Services Company for the softwood lumber industry in the U.S. and Canada. Chuck has over 25 years of education, research and consulting experience in forestry, wood science, lumber production and quality control. His diverse background in the forest products industry includes 17 years of experience with the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau (SPIB), the last 10 of which were spent with SPIB as a District Supervisor. He is the creator and author of a comprehensive computer based training and improvement program for softwood dimension lumber grading called ALEX, which is widely distributed in North America.

Chuck received a M.S. in Wood Science and Technology, and a B.S. in Forestry from Southern Illinois University; and an Associates Degree in Applied Science in Forestry from SIC. He has also conducted and published post-graduate research in wood science and technology while working at Auburn University’s Forest Products Laboratory in Auburn, Alabama.

Tony Mainsbridge, Component Specialist
Tony Mainsbridge began his construction career in 1980 as an apprentice carpenter in Melbourne, Australia. After five years of framing and trim work, he continued his construction education by training as a Construction Superintendent and Construction Estimator with the largest construction company in Australia, then moved into the specialty field of roof truss design and manufacturing. After moving to the U.S. in 1988, Tony continued in the field of roof truss manufacturing. Two years later he started his own business specializing in residential framing, and in 1995, he started a custom home building business on the Gulf Coast of Alabama.

With his vast experience in residential and light commercial construction, Tony was hired as the Operations Manager and Vice President by a multimillion-dollar building supply company. In November 2007, Tony joined the Edgefield Lumber Company team to promote the use of BluWood.

Paula Coker, Sales Representative
As a sales representative of BluWood for Edgefield Lumber Company, Paula is responsible for realtor relations as well as sales in the Mobile and Baldwin County area. Paula’s experience includes marketing director for Montrose Bay Health and Rehabilitation Center-Sava Senior Care in Montrose, Alabama, marketing director for Fairview Health and Rehabilitation Center-Sava Senior Center in Birmingham, and president and director of sales for Value Auto Credit. She attended Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi. She lives in Mobile and has three children.

Amy Caldwell, Inside Sales and FSC/SFI Chain of Custody Coordinator
Amy Caldwell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Business Administration from The University of Alabama in 2001. While at the University she was a member of several organizations including Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society. Upon graduation, Amy began working in the wireless industry at AT&T as a retail sales consultant. During her 6-year employment with AT&T, she earned several top sales awards. She joined the Edgefield Lumber team in January 2008 and assists with the purchasing and pricing of lumber, customer service and inside sales. Amy resides in Daphne, Alabama, with her husband and daughter.

C.J. Wallace, Louisiana Territory Manager
C.J. joined the Edgefield team as the Louisiana Territory Manager after an extensive background in the lumber and building products industry. A graduate of the University of New Orleans, C.J.’s experience includes over thirty years in the lumber industry including Operations Manager for Wickes, Inc., Area Operations Manager for Weyerhauser in both Florida and the mid-Atlantic region, and the US Lumber Group in Baltimore. C.J. will supervise sales and operations for Edgefield throughout the state of Louisiana.
